Licences of 4 C&F agents suspended

Licences of four clearing and forwarding agents (C&F) operating at Bhomra land port have been temporarily suspended for their alleged import of goods on false declaration.

The action was taken Sunday following an order by Benapole Customs Joint Collector Shafiqul Islam, sources said.

The charges against them are being probed and action will be taken, they said.

The defaulter C&F agents are M/S Kabir Enterprise owned by Humayun Kabir, M/S Pubali Agency of Abdul Jalil, M/S Azmir Enterprise of Badrul Alam and M/S Jess Enterprise of Mostaq Ahmed.

According to Bhamra land port and customs sources, M/S Chowdhury Enterprise of Chitta-gong had imported 30 tonnes of turmeric from India against a LC for 20 tonnes.

M/S Sadman Traders of Khulna imported seven tonnes of green chilli against a LC for two tons.

M/S Masud Enterprise of Khalishpur in Khulna had imported 15 tonnes of potato from India but he imported 15 tonns of lemon instead of potato.

The four clearing and forwarding agents in connivance with a section of officials released the goods worth Tk 50 lack by giving false declarations.
