5-day Zainul Festival begins at Mymensingh today

The programme is a part of the National Zainul Festival-2004, which already started in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh National Museum, Bengal Foundation and district administration will organise the programme jointly.

The celebration programme will begin with a colourful procession in the district town. Other programmes include crafts fair (Karu mel), painting competition for children, discussion on life and work of Shilpacharya and cultural function at Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (gallery).

AKM Rosharraf Hossain, State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources and Begum Zahanara Abedin, wife of Zainul Abedin will attend the inaugural session as chief and special guests.

Delwar Hossain Khan Dulu, MP will open the crafts fair on the premises of Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (gallery). Other programmes will be held at the open stage of the gallery every afternoon. The programmes include cultural function of Baul song and folk song).

According to deputy keeper Dr Bijoy Kishna Banik of the gallery, all preparations have been made to make the programme a success.
