Rush of tourists in Kuakata sea beach

Hotels, motels, cottages and rest houses are doing a brisk business. All the places are now packed with tourists. The holiday on Friday increased the number even more.

The pleasant weather and scenes of sunrise and sunset in the sea are the main attractions.

Not only tourists. A large number of students have come in groups --either for picnic or for study tour.

Jamal Hossain came from Dhaka with his family of six.

"I have come to the sea beach to enjoy the weekly holiday and the X-Mas Day.

Hotel owners and police said they did not see such rush of tourists earlier.

Anwar Hossain Anu, an official of the Patuakhali Residential Hotel Owners Association said the unusual rush is because annual examinations of school and ended.

However, many tourists talking to this correspondent said hotel owners have increased rent. They are charging Tk 200 to 300 for a single-bed room and Tk 500 to 700 for a double-bed room.

Hotel owners said, this is the time to earn profit after dull business in rest of the year.
