Dense fog disrupts communications in S districts

Steamers from Dhaka arrive Barisal six to eight hours behind schedule. Reports from Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali and Jhalakati districts also say fog is disrupting movement of vessels and vehicles.

For the last couple of days, the sun is not visible before 10 AM.

Road transports are also delayed by 4 to 6 hours by the fog.

Passengers and crew of MV Parabat-5 and MV Parabat -7, Suravi-6, Emdad Khan plying the Dhaka- Barisal route said, launches plying the long distance route have to anchor at different points and wait for hours due to very poor visibility after midnight.

Thousands of passenger on board those launches remain stranded on rivers for hours.

Operation of ferry boats at Dauladia, Mawa and Char Janajat terminals also remains suspended halted for 3 to 5 hours, disrupting road communication, the crew said.

Local weather office said, the foggy weather will continue some days, probably till the New Year.

The temperature now varies from 13 to 17 degree Celsius in the region.
