Bid to sell 33 food godowns in Patuakhali

The department sent a proposal to the higher authorities for its approval.

The government is spending Tk 6 lakh annually for salaries of 10 security guards having no work in the godowns having storage capacity of 14,500 tonnes of food, according to sources in the District Food Controller's Office.

There is no utility of the godowns as road and river communication improved much in the entire district, according to the District Controller of Food, Md Roka Mia. Now foodgrains can easily reach the remote areas within a short period, he added.
