3 killed, 43 hurt in road mishaps in B'baria, Jessore

Our Brahmanbaria Correspon-dent reports: Two persons were killed and 40 others injured in a road accident at Madhabpur under Madhapur upazila in Habiganj on Monday.

According to police sources, the accident occurred when the driver of a Sylhet bound bus turned turtle when its driver lost control over steering at Madhabpur.

The victims are Farhad Mia and Junad Mia. They died on the spot.

In a critical condition, 15 injured persons were admitted to Madha-bpur Upazila Health Complex and four others were admitted to Brahmanbaria Modern Hospital.

The condition of severely injured Munu Mia, 42, Malek Mia, 40, Amer Ali, 17, and Sapan Mia, 24, was stated to be critical.

The driver and helper managed to flee.

Our Jessore Correspondent reports: One person was killed and three members of a family were seriously injured in a road accident at Sadipur on the Jessore Magura Road on Monday.

According to police sources, Dr Momtajul Haque, 50, a physician of Jessore 250-bed hospital, his wife Firoza Begum,40, Assistant professor of Jessore Government Women's College, his sister Aliya Begum, 59, and niece Mahfuza Begum,18, were coming to Jessore from Fulbari village in Magura by a car. When the car reached the spot, another bus dashed the car from behind. As a result, Dr Haque lost control of the steering and the car turned turtle and caught fire. Prof Firoza Begum died on the spot while Dr Momtajul, his sister and his niece were seriously injured. The injured persons were rushed to Jessore 250-bed Hospital.
