Madrassah ransacked for toll
Extortionists ransacked furniture at Madinatul Ulum Dhakhil Madrassah on Sunday at Bara Bighai village in the Sadar upazila as its authorities refused to pay them Tk 30,000 toll.
Police said, a gang of ten lead by one Sattar Gazi came to the Madrassah and demanded the money from its superintendent MHM Abdur Rashid.
As he refused, they ransacked furniture and looted 24 pieces of CI sheet from its roof.
About 100 students are now attending classes under the shy on the premises.
The madrassah authorities said they filed a case but police are yet to arrest any of the accused.
Abdul Hannan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar thana, when contacted said the accused will be arrested.
