BCL rallies attacked in Netrakona, Madaripur: 55 injured
Our Netrakona Correspondent reports: At least 25 BCL activists were injured in attacks when JCD activists 'foiled' their founding anniversary celebration programmes at Mohongonj and Kendua upazilas.
Some shops were also damaged.
At Mohonganj, the attack was made when BCL brought out a procession. At least 15 BCL activists including Soharab, Tuhin and Rashal were injured.
Ten other BCL activists were injured when JCD swooped on another discussion meeting.
The injured persons included Kamrul Islam, Tajul Islam and Abdur Nur.
The attackers also damaged Kendua upazila Awami League (AL) office, party men claimed.
A Madaripur correspondent reports: Thirty BCL activists and a journalist were injured in an attack by JCD activists at a BCL rally at Kalkini upazila.
AL condemned the incident in a protest meeting.
Madaripur Sangbadik Kalyan Samity also held a protest meeting protesting the attack.
Police fired over 50 rounds of gunshots and 20 rounds of tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
