Army officer's body exhumed for fresh autopsy

Lance Corporal Abu Bakar was shot dead while on duty during a religious function at a Buddhist temple at Jomchhari in Bandarban on the night of November 22.

When contacted, Manikganj Police Superintendent Mohammad Awrangazeb Mahbub said the body was exhumed as Senior Warrant Officer at Bandarban cantonment, Abdul Aziz, lodged a murder case with Ruma thana in Bandarban on December 30 in connection with the incident. Earlier, an arms case was filed in this regard.

Senior Warrant Officer Abdul Aziz, Bandarban Sadar thana SI Nurul Islam and Magistrate Mohammad Hossain from Manikganj were present when the body was exhumed.

SI Nurul Islam, who is the investigation officer in the case, told this correspondent that at Manikganj Sadar Hospital that Mimio Thoai, a Mayanmar national, has been arrested in connection with the murder. An SMG with 30 bullets were recovered from his possessions.
