100 hurt in B'baria clashes over land disputes

At least 100 people were injured and five houses damaged in clashes between rival groups in land disputes at Birampur village in Brahmanbaria Sadar and at Tanchhara in Nabinagar upazila.

Of them, 80 were injured in Birampur clashes on Monday. Twelve of the injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadat Hospital with serious injuries. They are Muhammad Ali, Suna Mia, Sarej Mia, Abdul Kadir, Abul Bashar, Masum Mia, Bazlu Mia, Marzina Begum, Satchu Mia, Nehara Begum, Khalil Mia and Murshid Ahmad. Police said any case is yet to be filed.

According to eye witness and police sources, there was a long-drawn dispute between former local Union Parishad member Abdus Subhan and Muhammad Ali over a land.

Twenty others were injured in another clash at Tanchhara village on Tuesday. Five of them were admitted to Koshba health complex, police said.
