70 freedom fighters stage hunger strike in Gaibandha

The hunger strike was held in protest against non-inclusion of over 300 freedom fighters of seven upazilas in the new list prepared by the government. They alleged that 52 genuine freedom fighters were dropped from the list in Shghata upazila only.

They demanded inclusion of all genuine freedom fighters in the list.

A protest meeting was also held which was presided over by former Upazila Chairman freedom fighter Fazlul Huq. Mahmudul Huq, Convenor of the district freedom fighters' unit (Ahad), Wasukur Rahman, Iqbal Maju, Abdul Quddus Ansee Ali and Abul Kalam Azad addressed the meeting.
