Protests mount in Rajshahi
The alliance held a big protest rally at the Zero Point in the city.
With Rajshahi AL President Masudul Haque Dulu in the chair, the rally was addressed by, among others, Workers Party Politburo member Fazle Hossain Badshah, Rajshahi city AL General Secretary AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi CPB (Communist Party of Bangladesh) Secretary Enamul Haque, JDS Secretary
Abdullah Al Masud and Sammilito Sangskritik Jote President Sayed Shafiqul Islam.
Bitterly condemning the attack on Kibria, they said this was like the August 21 attacks on Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka last year.
These prove that pro-liberation and progressive forces are being killed in a planned way by certain quarters as part of a blue print.
Fazle Hossain Badshah said the BNP-Jamaat government must bear the responsibility for the planned attacks to eliminate opposition forces.
"There are three governments in the country now, one headed by Khaleda Zia, another by Tarique Zia and the third by Jamaat Ameer Nizami whose home minister is Bangla Bhai", he said.
"The Habiganj attack was made to hide Bangla Bhai's activities in Rajshahi".
Khairuzzaman Liton said Bangla Bhai's militant groups sheltered by the government masterminded the attack. He called upon all pro-liberation and secular forces to unite to resist religious extremists.
"Anti- liberation forces are out to finish their job left unfinished in 1971 by killing progressive forces".
Enamul Haque said the Habiganj incident was not an isolated one. It is linked to all previous bomb and grenade attacks.
Separate processions and protest rallies were also held by components of the 14-party alliance and their front organisations in Laxmipur, Upashahar, Talaimari, Shalbagan and Shaheb Bazar areas in the city.
