Probe ordered as SI releases 'rapist', hundi trader in Kalaroa
Department investigation has been started against Sub Inspector Mofazzal Hossain of Kalaroa thana for releasing an alleged rapist and a 'Hundi trader' from the police station after their arrest, sources at Satkhira Police Superintendent's office said yesterday.
SP Abdul Rahim has ordered to Assistant Police Superintendent Delowar Hossain to investigate the matter.
SI Mofazzal had arrested Babu, 25, son of Sher Ali of Raita village in Kalaroa upazila from the same village on January 20 and recovered Tk 10 lakh, kept with him for alleged Hundi transaction. Later he was released from the police station.
On January 22, local people caught an alleged rapist --Monayeem Sarder, 35-- from Jugikhali village. He was handed over to police, who released him under alleged pressure from a local ruling party leader.
The incidents were reported in national dailies.
