Export-import through Bhomra land port resumed on Saturday after nine days' suspension as Indian authorities had stopped vehicle movement on the 11km Ghojadanga-Basirhat road on the other side of the border for reconstruction work.

At least 1000 loaded trucks were stranded across the border causing heavy loss to traders of both the countries.

The road was opened for vehicles on Friday. Over 50 trucks loaded with goods entered into the port on Saturday, sources there said.

Earlier, export- import through the land port remained suspended from October 18 to 27 last year as the Ghojadanga Citizen's Committee called a strike in the area demanding reconstruction of the road.
