Five honoured in Kushtia
They are Prof Dr Abul Ahsan Choudhury of Bangla Department in Islamic University (IU), Singer Abdul Jabbar, advocate SM Ansar Ali, vice-president of Bangladesh Shooting Federation, athlete Jems Joy Mallik and football player Md Musa.
Dr Ahsan is an internationally reputed litterateur and researcher in Bangla folk literature. He wrote 52 books including 23 research books and edited another 22.
Advocate SM Ansar Ali, was vice-president of SAARC Shooting Committee in 2002-2004.
Athlete Jems Joy Mallik got champion award five times in 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 in the then East Pakistan. This record is still unbroken.
Md. Musha played football for 30 years and got awards from IOC and FIFA for his performance.
High officials, educationists and professionals attended the reception accorded by MEDHA, (Medical Education and Health Development Association), a voluntary organisation.
Islamic University Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Islam was the chief guest at the reception, chaired by MEDHA President Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal.
The function was addressed by Rashida Begum acting Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kushtia; Police Superintendent Sahabuddin Khan; Mojibor Rahman, Chairman of BRB Group of Industries; Manjur Ahsan Choudhury, Editor of local daily Andoloner Bazar and journalist Matiur Rahman Laltu.
