3 brothers to die for murder

Judge M A Matin handed down the punishment to Abdul Awal, 40, Md Osman Gani, 35, and Md Abubakar, 32 at a crowded court room in presence of the convicts in the dock.

The three brothers sentenced to death---ÊAfazuddin and Razzak Howlader, another two accused of the case, were vindicated of the charges by the order of the ministry of Home affairs after given charge sheet against them.

ÊSix of the accused were acquitted. They are Nur Banu, Mahenur Begum, Ali Akbor, Ataharuddin, Karamat Ali and Zakir Howlader.

The accused had a feud with Khaled Howlader over land and hacked him while he was returning home at Digbijoy village from his father-in-law's house in Ballavpur village in Patuakhali on September 14, 1998.
