8 get life for Kushtia schoolboy murder

The murder was committed on November 13, 2000.

The convicts are Emam Hannan Biswas, Tuhin, Timir, Miraj, Munna, Mintu, Milon of Court Para in Kushtia town and Arif of Halsha village in Mirpur upazila in the district. All the convicts, granted bail by a Kushtia court in 2002, are absconding. Judge Abdus Samad pronounced the verdict.

Emam Hannan Biswas was general secretary of Kushtia town Jubo League and Munan and Miraj were activists of Awami League (AL).

Hannan, Miraj and Munna had called Imon, student of class X at Sirajaul Haq Muslim high school, out of home at about 9 pm on November 13, 2000.

They took him to room no-230 at Kushtia Government College hostel, strangled him and dumped the body into a nearby pond.
