PBCP meets to decide strategy

A senior officer of Khulna Metropolitan police (KMP) quoting an unconfirmed source said that decision to circulate leaflets styled "The 17th August serial bomb attacks and our political stands" was taken in that secret meeting.

Accordingly, the leaflets were circulated from trains running from Chuadanga to Khulna city by PBCP operatives, the KMP official said.

Deputy Commissioner (HQ) of KMP Akbar Ali told this correspondent yesterday that city special branch police found some leaflets at Khulna railway station platform, which gives an idea that Janajuddho has taken a new strategy to carry on with its underground activities.

"Our forces are on the highest alert in all areas of the (Khulna) city to track down those involved with the underground organisation", Akbar Ali said while admitting failure to stop distribution of leaflets due to shortage of manpower in KMP.

When asked, Akbar ali did not rule out formation of 'women squad' of JMB.

"But we do not have enough police women to check any veiled woman suspecting her to be a JMB activist. Yet, we are trying our best to address this new menacing problem", he said.

Akbar Ali admitted that either JMB or Janajuddho faction of outlawed PBCP may carry out destructive activities in city.

"We have taken adequate measures to guard all key installations’, he said.
