Fake oil mill detected, six arrested

Police have detected a factory at the house of an Imam of a mosque at Rawshanbag in Panchagarh town where adulterated coconut oil and tooth powder were produced.

Police arrested six people. They are owner of the mill Hafez Mohammad Mortuza, also an Imam of a mosque; his son marsarsa student Masud, his son-in-law Abu Sayeed and three employees-- Jahangir, Matin and Touhidul.

Police also seized a mini truck and two rickshaw vans which were used for transporting the goods, empty bottles and tin containers, labels of different companies and some tools used for bottling the spurious oil and tooth powder.

Police said they have sealed the fake factory and lodged a case under the Special Powers.

Officer-in-Charge of Panchagarh thana Illius Fakir told this correspondent that acting on a tip-off, he along with a team raided the house Saturday night and detected the fake factory.
