All 4 were murdered in Kotchandpur to plunder Tk 60,000

Kuddus and his 13 accomplices murdered them in the early hours of September 15 to plunder Tk 60,000 they brought to buy a 'Nasimon' (shallow engine-propelled tempo). After hacking them to death, they threw the bodies on the rail line at Baluhar-Battala in a bid to show the incident as a railway mishap, according to his statement given before the magistrate on Monday under Section 164.

Kuddus said, his brother-in-law Ali Akbar alias Zahangir is also one of the victims.

According to him, one month ago, Zahangir along with one Raju came from Comilla to Kuddus' house at Kagmari village in Koatchandpur and returned after purchasing a 'Nasimon.' They confirmed that they are coming again soon to buy another one.

In his confession, Kuddus said, Zahangir along with three others came to his house with Tk 60,000 to buy another 'Nasimon' on September 13.

On the following evening, Kuddus took them to Koatchandpur town to enjoy a cinema. After the show, he started their return journey by his rickshaw-van.

At a point of the road at Bidyadharpur village, Kuddus switched on his torch light. At once 13 armed criminals came out of the bush and swooped on them to snatch the money.

When they resisted, the gang hacked them to death and left the bodies on the rail line.

On the following day, railway police recovered the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Three of the deceased were identified as Zahangir, Raju and Khokon while the identity of the other person is yet to be known, investigators said.

Magistrate S M Ferdous recorded the confessional statement of Kuddus after he was produced before court.
