Oust 'corrupt govt', Nasim tells Comilla public meeting

Addressing a public meeting at Comilla Town Hall ground, the front ranking AL leader reiterated his party's demand for reforms to the caretaker system and the Election Commission.

The next parliamentary election will not be free and fair if electoral laws are not amended and the administration not freed from ruling party men, he said.

Organized by the Comilla 14- party alliance, the meeting was addressed by among others, former law minister Abdul Matin Khasru, former Whip Majibul Haque, JSD central joint secretary Najmul Haque, NAP leader Saidur Rahman and Gono Forum leader Mostaque Ahmed.

Comilla AL general secretary and convener of local 14- party alliance Afzal Khan was in the chair.

Nasim claimed that the AL-led alliance will form government if the next general election is held in a free and fair manner.

People have already rejected this government because the ruling party men have made their fortune without working for development of the country, he said.

The AL leader also bitterly criticised the Chief Election Commissio-ner as well as the alliance government for appointing 'cadres' of Chatra Dal and Chatra Shibir as upazila election officers.

Even the judiciary has been politicised by the government, he claimed.

This is part of a blue print to retain power by any means, he said and urged the government to desist from such ill efforts.

The former home minister also crirticised the government for 'deterioration' in the law and order, allegedly because ruling party men are sheltering criminals.

Even relatives of ruling party men are doing crimes but they are not punished, he alleged.

Nasim asked the people to compare the price level now and during the AL rule. The recent oil price hike is affecting all sectors, industries in particular, he said.

Abdul Matin Khasru said, realising that people will not vote them again, the ruling parties have resorted to repression on the opposition by implicating its activists in false cases and torturing them, he said.
