Disabled Anwar had to leave DU

He appeared from Pirganj Sha Abdur Rouf Degree College.

He was among the 87 students at different levels in Pirganj upazila who were given awards by Onneyesha, a local NGO, for brilliant academic results.

Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Nazrul Islam Khan gave away the awards at a simple function held there on September 23.

As the DC handed over the award to Anwaruzzaman, tears rolled down the cheeks of his poor farmer father Azizar Rahman, sitting among the audience.

Anwaruzzaman also obtained talent pool scholarship in class V and class VIII and star marks in SSC and HSC examinations.

"I could have secured position in SSC and HSC examinations had I not been ill", he said.

Anwaruzzaman lamented that he could not continue studies at Dhaka University though he was admitted to Statistics department. He had keen interest in the subject but he had to come back home.

"It was difficult for me to move from one building to another at Dhaka University. So I came back home with a desire unfulfilled".
