French donor to give aid for Rajshahi

The decision was announced yesterday, the third day a four-day Asia regional conference of Emmaus International, held at Charghat training center of Thanapara Swallows, an NGO.

Eleven Emmaus members from India, Indonesia, Lebanon and France also attended the meeting, supported by Emmaus International. The concluding session will be held today.

The money will be spent for training grassroots level people in various handicrafts and construction of an international level showroom in Rajshahi for display of the products, training on sustainable agriculture, to check human trafficking, ensure safe water and infrastructure development, according to Emmaus member and Thanapara Swallows Executive Director Raihan Ali.

Indian Emmaus member Mrs Kasalia and Bangladesh's Raihan Ali jointly chaired yesterday's meeting.

Emmaus Director Alain Fontaine moderated yesterday's meeting.

Meanwhile, an 11-day training on 'sustainable agriculture and use of natural compost and pesticides' concluded at the Tanapara Swallows training center on Sunday.

Thirty-six NGO activists from France, Uruguay, Argentina, Benin, Indonesia, India and Bangladesh took part in the training.
