Govt staff abducted for Tk 5 lakh ransom
Robbers looted good ornaments worth Tk 70,000 from a house Monday night and picked up the house owner, a government employee, for Tk 5 lakh ransom.
At about midnight, the gang, introducing themselves as friends, called Siraj Uddin, 55, Chief Office Assistant of Water Development Board (WDB), at Gobrapara village in Bheramara upazila in the district. As he opened the door, they burst into the house and tied up inmates at gunpoint. They looted gold ornaments and picked up Siraj. Latter they demanded Tk 5 lakh for his releases.
