‘Enayetullah Khan glorifies Barisal’

As the news of his death reached the area on Thursday, classes at Khanpura School were suspended and a spontaneous condolence meeting held with teacher Enayet Karim Faruk in the chair.

Babuganj College and Rakudia College held condolence meetings on Saturday.

Special prayers for the departed soul of Enayetullah Khan were held at all mosques in Babuganj, Baherchar, Khudrakati, Khanpura, and Rakudia after Jumma prayers on Friday.

Babuganj Press Club and Dehergati Union Parishad held condolence meetings and special prayers yesterday. Their members wore black badges, to continue till the mortal remains are laid to eternal rest.

Enayetullah Khan has become part of the history of Barisal and Bangladesh through his contribution, said Babuganj Awami League leader Sirajuddin Ahmed, researcher and writer of the history of Barisal in a statement.

Political leaders irrespective of their parties, lawmakers, leaders of different socio-cultural and professional organizations in Barisal, Bhola, Jhalakati, Pirojpur, Barguna and Patuakhali also expressed their profound grief at the demise of Enayetullah Khan.

Barisal City Corporation Mayor and lawmaker Majibor Rahman Sarwar, ruling party MP from Babuganj Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and central Jubo Dal Secretary General in separate statements expressed their deep grief at the death of the prominent journalist and recalled his uncompromising role for establishment of democracy, fair politics and objective journalism.
