4 crew rescued, 4 pirates held

The joint force also rescued four crew, Malek, Ripon, Kamal and Mamun and arrested four pirates. The pirates are identified as Fazlu, Sharif, Salauddin and Nazrul.

Quoting arrested pirates, zonal coast guard commander Lt Col Shahidul Islam and Tajumuddin Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Syed Rabiul Alam told said, Meshu, Khalil and Nayan, three of their 11- member gang were shot dead during gunfight. The arrested pirates saw their bodies floating downstream in the Meghna, they said.
