Barisal BCL leader Monaem sent to jail

He was sent to jail after he was produced before the Barisal Sadar Upazila Magistrate Court on Thursday.

Monaem, who allegedly headed a gang styled the Monaem Bahini in Barisal city, was wanted by police for long in connection with half a dozen cases including three for murder. He was absconding since the change of government in 2001, police said.

Before handover to police, Barisal Rab, acting on his confession, recovered a pipe gun from the city, police said.
