Mohalchhari UP chairman, 2 aides still missing

The two companions are Mohalchhari Sadar UP member Bipul Chakma and fellow indigenous commmunity member Tirpal Chakma.

They were abducted from Lemuchhari area on May 21.

The kidnapped chairman has a six-year-old daughter, Shampa Chakma. She is yet to know that her father has been kidnapped.

The abducted UP leader's wife and parents are now moving from door to door seeking help for rescue of their lone bread earner.

Mohalchhari police claimed Arkimidis is the main accused in businessman Rupom Mohazon abduction case. Rupom went missing on August 24, 2003. He mediated release of three foreigners abducted from Rangamati in 2003.

Earlier, four UP chairmen blamed the authorities concerned for failure in rescuing the three.

When contacted, Khagrachhari additional superintendent of police (ASP) Gias Uddin told this correspondent over phone that army and police jointly raided different places, but could not trace their whereabouts. 'We can't say whether they are alive or not', he said.
