Shamsur Rahman's anniversary of death observed

They also criticised law enforcers for inducting six journalists in the charge sheet.

They were speaking at programmes marking the 6th anniversary of death of journalist Shamsur Rahman here yesterday.

Shamsur Rahman, special correspondent of the Daily Janakantho and stringer of BBC Bangla Service, was killed by unidentified persons at his Jessore office six years ago.

Jessore Press Club, Journalists ' Union of Jessore and Jessore Journalists' Union took up various programmes including Doa Mahfil and discussion meetings at the press club and at Daratana Square here on the occasion. Journalists, wearing black badges, also visited his grave and offered prayers.

The separate discussion meetings were chaired by Jessore Press Club President Fakir Shaukat, Sheikh Dinu Ahmed and Sajed Rahman.

Those were addressed by, among others by former president of BFUJ Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuian, treasurer Farazi Azmal Hossain, Altaf Mahmood BFU (faction) and some local leaders of journalists unions.
