Athleticism is what we need
It's painful for someone who has been following the now popular Tigers for 18-odd years.
There was a time exposure for the Tigers to the big league was few and far between. During that era those who followed the Tigers mostly focused on the heroics of their stubborn resilience in every defeat.
Then there were times when they pulled off unlikely victories. Praise showered like anything with the writers trying to focus every conceivable angle to glorify that victory. Because it felt good for someone who happened to be sick and tired of writing those demoralising stuff day in and day out.
However, the last couple of years were refreshingly different as the Tigers showed consistency in their performance, especially in their own den. Every team in the world is good at home and every team has some unique ingredients en route to success.
Some shot into prominence with some extraordinary batsmen in their ranks, some had extraordinary bowlers or some had both. But one thing that is common for any successful team was athleticism and extraordinary fielding. To excel in that area you don't need talent, you need committed and hardworking people. The Tigers perhaps need to sort out that first before looking at other 'lighter' issues.
