Violating the electoral code of conduct, most of the mayoral and councillor candidates in Sylhet City Corporation elections have been seen putting up laminated posters and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) banners around the city roads.

Ignoring the BNP’s decision of boycotting the five city polls, some 25 grassroots party leaders, including six incumbent councillors, have filed nomination forms to run for councillor in the June 21 Sylhet city polls.

As the scheduled nomination collection and submission day for the upcoming Sylhet City Polls concluded yesterday, it seems that fate is on the side of the Awami League-nominated mayoral candidate.
