Bangladesh condemns attack on Indian base
Bangladesh has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Indian army base at Uri in Kashmir that killed 17 soldiers and injured many others.
In a letter to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh firmly stands by India at this difficult hour in line with its "zero tolerance" policy against terrorism and violent extremism.
“Bangladesh strongly condemns terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations. As a close friend and neighbour, we would continue to work together in our common endeavour to eradicate the menace of cross-border terrorism from this region and beyond," she said.
Hasina, who is now in New York to attend the 71st UN General Assembly, said she is deeply saddened to learn about the dastardly terrorist attack on the army base on September 18.
On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, the PM has extended her sincere condolences to those who lost their precious lives and conveyed sympathy to their bereaved families.
Hasina also prayed for early recovery of the injured personnel of the valiant armed forces of India.
