Banks open Saturday

Bangladesh Bank yesterday asked banks to keep open their branches on June 30 (Saturday) to help taxpayers pay income tax and submit challan of VAT, taxes and pay-orders.

The banking regulator issued the order following a directive given by National Board of Revenue as June 30 will be the last day of the outgoing fiscal year to deposit income tax, a BB official told The Daily Star yesterday.

The BB also ordered banks to take proper security measures to keep the branches open on one of the two days—Friday and Saturday—when bank employees enjoy public holiday
