Akij Resource wins two ESG Excellence Awards

Akij Resource, the country’s leading business conglomerate, has won two special awards at the “ESG Excellence Awards Bangladesh 2026” in recognition of its contributions to sustainable development, innovation and responsible business practices.

Akij Essentials Limited and Akij Agro Feed Limited, two business units of Akij Resource, won the awards in two separate categories, according to a press release.

The United Nations Global Compact Network Bangladesh and the ESG Institute Bangladesh jointly organised the award ceremony at Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka on Saturday.

The initiative aims to recognise tangible and measurable progress in environmental, social and governance practices.

Of the awards, Akij Essentials Limited received special recognition in the “Excellence in ESG Technology and Digital Innovation” category for its technology-driven and locally relevant ESG solutions and use of digital technology in sustainable management.

Akij Agro Feed Limited won the award in the “Excellence in External Supply Chain Collaboration and Partnerships” category for its contribution to building responsible and long-term partnerships with smallholder farmers, marginal producers and suppliers.

Commenting on the recognition, Md Rahajul Amin, lead professional for ESG and Sustainability at Akij Resource, said, “This recognition is a matter of both pride and responsibility for us.”

“Our goal is to integrate ESG more deeply into our business operations and create sustainable value through technology, innovation and inclusive partnerships.”

“This recognition will encourage us to undertake more measurable and effective initiatives in the future,” he added.

The dual recognition reflects Akij Resource’s commitment to sustainable development, technological innovation, responsible supply chain practices and creating long-term value for its stakeholders, the release added.

ATM Habib Ullah, chief executive officer of Akij Agro Feed Limited; Akterul Alam Shah, chief operating officer of Akij Essentials Limited; Towfique Hasan, chief business development officer of Akij Resource; and Md Ibtahaz Ifrit, senior officer, were also present at the programme.
