Kamal unwilling to comment on Bangladesh Bank heist
Although almost four years have passed after the Bangladesh Bank cyber heist, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal does not like to make any comment on the report of the investigation committee formed by the government.
"I will not comment on the matter as the case is ongoing," he said today responding to a query of journalists on why the report was not being published.
The minister was speaking after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement.
On February 4, 2016, hackers stole $101 million from the BB's account in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which is one of the world's biggest cyber heists.
Later, the government formed an investigation committee headed by former Bangladesh Bank governor Mohammad Farasuddin.
The committee submitted its report to the government in May 2017. However, the government has not released that report yet.
Multiple cases have been filed in Bangladesh, the Philippines and New York in connection with the heist.
