Local gold price reduced by Tk 100 a gram

The local jewellery makers' body has cut gold prices by Tk 100 per gram as the global price of the precious metal declined thanks to the emergence of Omicron, new coronavirus variant.

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) took the decision and it said the new price will come into effect immediately, according to a press release.

As per the new price, the price of 22-carat gold per gram will be Tk 6,270, 21-carat Tk 6,000 and 18-carat Tk 5,250.

However, the Samity has kept the prices of silver unchanged.

The price of 22-carat silver per gram is now Tk 130 while 21-carat Tk 123 and 18-carat Tk 105.
