Mutual Trust Bank to raise Tk 500cr capital
Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) has decided to raise capital of Tk 500 crore by issuing Islamic Shariah-compliant or conventional bonds with a tenor of seven years.
According to a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website today, the private commercial lender’s board took the decision on August 25, which remains subject to approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.
Shares of the bank declined 0.75 percent to Tk 13.3 as of 1:00pm today on the DSE.
Meanwhile, the bank's profit for the April-June quarter of 2026 declined 42 percent year on year to Tk 18.67 crore, driven by higher interest expense on deposits and borrowings, according to its financial statements.
As per DSE data, sponsors and directors held 33.26 percent stake in the bank as of July 31, 2026, while institutions and the general public hold the remaining shares.
