Rangs Properties Limited (RPL) has signed an agreement with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Network Bangladesh, formally joining the global corporate sustainability initiative.

The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Mashid Rahman, divisional director of Rancon Real Estate & Sea Fishing, and Shahamin Zaman, executive director of UNGC Network Bangladesh, signed the agreement recently at Rangs Babylonia, a business park in Dhaka, according to a press release.

“Real change is only possible through conscious choices, collective effort and a mindset committed to sustainability,” Rahman said. “At Rangs Properties Limited, we embrace this responsibility wholeheartedly, and it guides everything we do.”

“Integrating green practices into modern architecture is not just a choice; it is our commitment to a better, more sustainable future for our communities and the environment,” he added.

With the signing, Rangs Properties Limited becomes the first real estate company in Bangladesh to join the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

Sustainability remains a core pillar of RPL’s development philosophy, driven by the Rancon Green Initiative. Under the programme, the company has integrated 348,216 square feet of natural green space across its residential and commercial developments.

These efforts include landscaped green areas, green rooftops, vertical gardens and eco-conscious architectural designs—reflecting RPL’s ambition to move beyond conventional brick-and-mortar construction towards nature-integrated modern architecture.

During the event, UNGC representatives shared insights into global sustainability frameworks and best practices.

RPL also outlined its forward-looking sustainability plans for the real estate sector, highlighting how collaboration with the UN Global Compact would help shape future developments through responsible construction and long-term environmental stewardship.
