UCB partners with Faridpur Municipality to digitise revenue collection

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) recently signed an agreement with Faridpur Municipality to facilitate the digital collection of municipal revenues, supporting the municipality’s transition to a modern, technology-enabled payment system.

Md Iliasur Rahman, administrator of Faridpur Municipality, and Shahbaj Talat, senior executive vice-president and head of transaction banking at the bank, signed the agreement in Faridpur, according to a press release.

Iliasur Rahman said, “This initiative will modernise the municipality’s revenue collection system, making payments more convenient for citizens while improving efficiency and transparency in public service delivery.”

Shahbaj Talat said, “The agreement reflects UCB’s continued commitment to supporting digital public services by enabling secure, efficient, and transparent payment solutions for government institutions and citizens alike.”

Under the agreement, UCB will provide the banking and digital payment infrastructure for collecting designated municipal revenues, including holding tax, trade licence fees, water bills, building plan approval fees, municipal market rents, birth and death registration fees, and other service charges.

Once implemented, residents will be able to make municipal payments through UCB’s banking network and digital channels, making the payment process faster, more secure, and more convenient, the release added.
