BUFT observes World Environment Day with two-day programme

BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) observed World Environment Day through a two-day programme aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and climate action.

The programme, held on June 10-11, was organised by the Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the BUFT Science and Environment Club, according to a press release.

Activities included a tree plantation drive, an environmental awareness rally, a SpoGOMI Tournament, a roundtable discussion and the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between BUFT and four environmental organisations.

Prizes were also awarded to winners of various competitions.

The programme was attended by Faruque Hassan, chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT, as chief guest and was chaired by Ayub Nabi Khan, vice-chancellor (designate).

Among others present were Mohammed Nasir, member of the Board of Trustees; Md Alamgir Hossain, pro-vice chancellor (acting) and treasurer; Shafiqur Rahman, chairman of Pran Prokriti Poribesh Protibesh Rakkha Jatio Committee; Md Abdul Jalil, dean of the Faculty of Science; Registrar Md Rafiquzzaman; and deans, department heads, faculty members, officials and students.

According to the university, the programme was organised to encourage greater environmental responsibility and support efforts toward a more sustainable future.
