IBA holds 58th graduation ceremony at BCFCC
The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Dhaka held its 58th graduation ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC).
A total of 365 students received degrees under the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA and DBA programmes, according to a press release.
Among them, 116 students graduated from the BBA programme, 126 from MBA, 122 from Executive MBA and one student received a DBA degree.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor A B M Obaidul Islam attended the programme as chief guest.
The ceremony was chaired by IBA Director Professor Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah.
Former finance adviser to the interim government Salehuddin Ahmed attended as graduation speaker.
Addressing the graduates, Salehuddin Ahmed said, “Standing here today, I am reminded of my own journey. Just like you, we were students in a turbulent time, witnessing our nation strive to find its identity anew, economic and political.”
Obaidul Islam praised the students for completing their studies amid recent national challenges.
He said, “Our current socio-economic climate demands business professionals equipped with knowledge, skill, grit, compassion, and morality.”
IBA Director Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship and think critically.
He said, “The struggle of entrepreneurship is matched only by the deep contentment of seeing a vision come to life.”
Professor Iftekharul Amin, in his welcome speech, urged students to contribute positively to society.
He said, “Don’t just join the world as it is; use everything you’ve learned here to build the world as it should be.”
The institute also announced that 26 students were included in the Director’s Honour List for academic performance, while two students received gold medals.
