MGI becomes first in Bangladesh to adopt Sustainable US Soy label

The US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) has recognised Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) as the first company in Bangladesh to adopt the Sustainable US Soy (SUSS) label.

The certification was awarded at a programme in Dhaka, says a press release.

MGI Director Tanjima Mostafa received the certificate from Kevin M Roepke, executive director for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region of USSEC.

Delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan attended the event.

The SUSS label will be used on MGI’s soybean product packaging.

MGI said the certification supports traceability and responsible sourcing in sectors such as edible oil, animal feed and food production.

“This certification upholds our commitment to transparent practices, and helps to assure our customers of our commitment to provide them the most responsibly sourced products. By integrating sustainability in our supply chain, we deliver quality nutrition while creating lasting value for people and the planet,” said Tanjima Mostafa.

“It gives us great pleasure to see MGI leading the adoption of the Sustainable U.S. Soy label,” said Kevin M Roepke. “Their partnership with U.S. Soy reflects a strong commitment to embedding sustainability across their supply chains. In a country as vulnerable to the effects of climate change as Bangladesh, this step reflects strong, responsible action in a positive direction.”

USSEC said Bangladesh imported 1.13 million metric tonnes of soybeans from the United States in the 2025–2026 marketing year, with MGI accounting for more than half of the volume.

The SUSS label is supported by the US Soy Sustainability Assurance Protocol, which evaluates factors including soil conservation, water management, air quality and land use.
