National round of Bangladesh AI Olympiad held at BUBT

The national round of the 3rd Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad 2026 was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).

Students from Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rangpur and other parts of the country participated in the competition, according to a press release.

The event included programming contests, mathematical reasoning sessions, AI-based challenges and analytical question-answer segments.

Competitions were held in categories including AI Quiz and AI Coding Contest.

A separate segment for guardians was also organised during the programme.

Speaking at the closing and prize-giving ceremony, BUBT Vice-Chancellor Professor A B M Shawkat Ali said, “Artificial Intelligence is no longer the technology of the future, it is one of the key driving forces of the present world.”

Special guests included Professor Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at BUBT, and Muhammad Aminur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at BUBT.

The welcome speech was delivered by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) President Munir Hasan, while Professor Md Ahsan Habib, chairman of the CSE Department and dean of BUBT Research Graduate School, presided over the ceremony.

Munir Hasan said, “Bangladesh's young generation is second to none in talent and potential.”

At the closing ceremony, organisers announced 14 winners in the quiz category and 15 winners in the AI Challenge category.

The winners received medals and certificates.

Technology company Jadu PC also presented a computer to the champion of the AI Content category.

Organisers said the winners of the national round will represent Bangladesh at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) in Kazakhstan.

BUBT hosted the event as platinum sponsor.
