Syngenta launches SynGreen drive to expand tree plantation across Bangladesh
Syngenta Bangladesh has announced plans to distribute 15,000 saplings across the country by 2030 under its SynGreen: Planting for a Greener Tomorrow initiative.
The announcement came during a tree plantation awareness programme held in Rupganj, Narayanganj, to mark World Environment Day 2026, according to a press release.
The programme brought together the company's Country Leadership Team, school authorities, teachers and students to promote environmental awareness and encourage tree plantation among young people.
Speaking as the chief guest, Hedayet Ullah, managing director of Syngenta Bangladesh, said every tree planted today is an investment in a healthier and more sustainable future. He said the SynGreen initiative seeks not only to plant saplings but also to encourage the younger generation to take responsibility for protecting nature and preserving the environment.
The programme included awareness sessions on the role of trees in tackling climate change, conserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance. Students were encouraged to plant and care for the saplings distributed during the event.
According to the company, the SynGreen initiative will work with educational institutions, local communities, government agencies and farming communities to expand green spaces, promote environmental responsibility and encourage collective action towards a more sustainable future.
