TEDxCU hosts ‘Rising Beyond’ event

TEDxChittagongUniversity held its 2026 event at the University of Chittagong under the theme “Rising Beyond”, bringing together students, educators and young professionals from different institutions across the region.

The event, organised under an official TED licence, featured seven speakers from fields including science, governance, education, entrepreneurship and entertainment.

Participants from the University of Chittagong, CUET, CMC, IIUC and other institutions attended the programme.

Scientist and inventor Mubarak Ahmad Khan spoke on sustainable materials and innovation, while physician and activist Sakia Haque discussed women’s empowerment and her experience travelling across all 64 districts of Bangladesh on a motorcycle.

Former Comptroller and Auditor General Muslim Chowdhury delivered a talk on financial management and governance in Bangladesh.

Mexemy Chief Executive Officer Mehedi Hasan Rafi spoke about exploration and career development, while educator and content creator Umme Maisun discussed access to education for Bangla-medium students.

Stand-up comedian Syed Ridwan Hossain Bipro spoke on humour and storytelling, and content creator and cartoonist Antik Mahmud delivered a session on storytelling and creativity.

During the event, Antik Mahmud also introduced the band Odd Signature, which performed live on stage.

According to the organisers, the event aimed to inspire conversations around innovation, social barriers and personal growth among young people.
