Woolmark seminar in Dhaka discusses value-added knitwear production
The Woolmark Company, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), organised a knitwear seminar in Dhaka focusing on product diversification and value addition in the apparel sector.
The seminar was held at a hotel in the capital, according to a press release.
The discussion focused on the use of wool and wool-rich blends in Bangladesh’s knitwear industry and their role in expanding access to higher-value international markets.

Among those present were Clinton Pobke, deputy head of mission at the Australian High Commission; Mohammad Hatem, president of BKMEA; and M Riaz Hamidullah, Indian high commissioner.
Representatives from The Woolmark Company discussed global demand trends, market opportunities and the use of wool in apparel manufacturing.
The seminar also highlighted the growing relevance of Australian Merino wool in the global knitwear sector.
Industry representatives discussed issues including yarn innovation, sustainable sourcing and developments in the wool supply chain.
Manufacturers from Bangladesh also shared experiences related to wool-based knitwear production and presented industry case studies.
