BTRC circular to switch from Citycell stayed
The High Court today stayed a circular issued by the authorities asking the subscribers of mobile operator Citycell to switch to an alternative operator.
The court also issued a ruling asking the authorities concerned of the government and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to explain why the circular should not be declared illegal.
The HC bench of Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan came up with the order and ruling following a writ petition filed by Citycell challenging the legality of the BTRC circular.
The BTRC on August 17 issued a circular for the second time extending its tenure asking the customers of Citycell to take service from other mobile operators in two weeks on July 31 for next two weeks.
On July 31 it issued the first circular in this regard.
Citycell recently filed the petition with the HC challenging the legality of the BTRC circular.
