Chery Automobile co., ltd. was founded on January 1997 in China. The first car came off the production line in December 1999. At present Chery possesses an annual production capacity of 900,000 units of cars and engines, and 450,000 sets of transmission units. Currently there are 20 models of Chery passenger vehicles in the market. Chery has passed ISO9001, ISO/TS16949 of TUV & other international quality system certification. With the product development goals Chery believe safe, energy saving and environmentally friendly vehicles with zero defect are the way forward. Chery has a strong R&D team of more than 6000 people, with bringing their products to a globalized world as their strategic goal. Chery become the first Chinese auto manufacturer to export CBU, CKD, engines and car manufacturing technology to foreign countries. Chery exported their cars to more than 80 countries with 12 overseas factories currently operational. Chery has been the top Chinese vehicles exporter with 700,000 units sold up to June 2012. Chery has been ranked the first among all Chinese independent auto brands for the last 11 consecutive years and was identified as China's largest passenger vehicles exporter for the last 9 consecutive years.
