Elephant Road building fire doused
Firefighters have put out the fire, that erupted at a multi-storey building in the city’s Elephant Road this afternoon, after half an hour of frantic effort.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of the building around 3:15pm, said Rasel Sikder, a duty-officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flames around 3:45pm, the fire service official said.
Residents evacuated the building soon after the fire began. No report of casualty was reported.
Cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
