1 held with 1,950 pieces of yaba at Dhaka airport

Airport Armed Police claimed to have detained one person with 1950 pieces of yaba tablets near the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.

The detainee Md Nur Ahmed, 36, was held from outside of the domestic terminal around 9:00am, Alamgir Hosen, additional superintendent of police (Operations and Media) of Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn), told The Daily Star.

The law enforcers searched the body of Nur on suspicion and found 1950 pieces of yaba on his possession, the police official said.

It has been estimated that the seized yaba is worth around Tk 10 lakh, he said.

Nur, a resident of Ukhia in Cox's Bazar, collected the yaba from one Kalu of Balukhali and was supposed to deliver it to one Ranti in Dhaka, the police official said.
